Dr. Jennifer Goetz-Bixby
Dr. Jennifer Goetz-Bixby joined the SEM faculty in 2002 from the Department of Physics at the College of Wooster in Wooster, Ohio. She is a specialist in both physics and math, with experience teaching astronomy and astrophysics, Advanced Placement Physics as well as Scientist for Life and Astronomy.
She and Dr. Sara Sieczkarski initiated the Scientist for Life program in 2007. In this science literacy program, the students control the curriculum by choosing the topics and performing daily research on laptops, provided through funding from the E. E. Ford Foundation. Recent topics have included: alternative energy sources, global warming, forensics and endangered species.
Jenn is a graduate of Binghamton University with a BS in Physics and received both her MA and PhD. in Physics and Astronomy at the University of Rochester. Her summer research at the University of Rochester analyzing images from the Spitzer Space Telescope was published in the March 2008 issue of The Astrophysical Journal.
