Mme. Sophie Michaud
Sophie Michaud is the Assistant Head of School for Academics. She also teaches French and leads a student advisory.
A native of France, she has lived in Western New York for the past 10 years. She uses a variety of dynamic methods to show her students a more contemporary picture of France, its culture, and the French language. As an educator, she strives to spark an interest that goes beyond building linguistic skills and to encourage students to take intellectual and emotional risks. Not only is Sophie bilingual in French and English, she has studied graduate-level German.
She received her BA from the Université Catholique de Lille with an advanced certificate of English conferred by Cambridge University. She earned her MA in linguistics and translation from the Université Catholique de Lille and an MA in French and Francophone literature from the State University of New York at Buffalo (UB). She has completed coursework toward her PhD in French and Francophone literature. Sophie has taught French at Canisius College and UB and served as the Vice President of Education at the Alliance Française de Buffalo. In 2016, she became a facilitator for national education organization Leadership+Design.
