Sra. Linda Slingerland
Linda Slingerland, a native of Colombia, joined our Foreign Language Department in 2008. A passionate advocate of cross-cultural awareness, she accompanied a group of Sem students to Cartagena, Colombia, as part of an exchange program with Colegio Colombo Britanico in 2010. She has also served as the Advisor for the International Club for the past four years.Linda graduated from the University Autonoma de Occidente in Cali, Colombia, with a BA in journalism. She worked in public relations for the National Marathon in Colombia and the Chamber of Commerce before moving to the US.
Linda first came here in 2006 as an exchange student at St. John's University in Long Island, NY, where she received certification in child health safety and development. She later attended Buffalo State College through a Spanish Education Post-Baccalaureate Teacher Certification Program. Although she visits family in Colombia whenever possible, Linda is proud to call Buffalo home, where she lives with her husband and young children. She has previously volunteered as a Spanish tutor for in Alianza Latina in Buffalo and Casey Middle School in Williamsville. One of Linda’s passions is drama; in 2007 she was privileged to play a leading role in Don Goyito, the first Spanish play to be performed at Buffalo's Alleyway Theater.
