Mrs. Sharon Kounovsky
Sharon Kounovsky joined SEM in 2011 to provide English as a Second Language support and to work with faculty in all departments in support of our English language learners, and she serves as SEM's curriculum coordinator. She holds New York State teaching certification in English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) and is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University at Buffalo, where she earned her Ed.M. in ESOL and researched bilingualism and multicultural education. Previously, she studied abroad and taught in China throughout her university career; completed a B.A. with honors in International Studies and a Chinese minor at the University at Buffalo, receiving the Social Sciences Interdisciplinary Department Award; and taught at Qingdao International School in Shandong, China from 2008 to 2011.
