Mrs. Jessica Silverstein
Jessica Silverstein teaches US History, AP US History, and senior electives in the English department.
She loves both classic and contemporary literature, and she enjoys taking members of Book Club to the Rochester Teen Book Festival to meet their favorite authors of young adult literature.
Jessica's lifelong love of history was sparked by musicals like 1776 and Ragtime, so she strives to help students find connections between history and their own individual passions. Jessica earned a BA in English and Theatre at Williams College and an MA in Educational Theatre and English Education from NYU.
After student-teaching at The Young Women's Leadership School of East Harlem and Grace Church School in Manhattan, Jessica began her teaching career at Queens Collegiate, a public college preparatory middle and high school in Jamaica, Queens. Upon moving to Buffalo, Jessica taught at Tapestry Charter High School before coming to SEM in 2013.
