Leta Dentan, Chair of the Mathematics Department, Sophomore Class Dean and a member of Buffalo Seminary's Math Department since September 2001, teaches Algebra/Trigonometry Honors, Geometry and Algebra I Honors. A graduate of the University of California in Riverside, where she received her B.A. in Anthropology, she did graduate work in education at Claremont Graduate School and the University at Buffalo. She received New York State permanent certification for secondary school mathematics and earned a master's degree in anthropology from the University at Buffalo, specializing in classroom observation. Prior to Sem, Leta was a math instructor at Villa Maria Academy; tutored the children of indigenous people in western Malaysia (1976, 1991-1992); and spent a year as an English instructor at Beijing Normal College in Beijing, China. Her hobbies include omnivorous reading, bird watching, and, for the last few years, scuba diving.
