Planned Giving

Bequests to Sem have always been important. Through their wills, 401Ks, IRAs and other vehicles, alumnae, families and friends of Sem have invested in Sem's future.

Increasingly, donors are using planned gifts as a way to augment their regular gifts to Sem. These gifts can provide income to Sem for future years while at the same time providing a benefit to donors.

Sem welcomes bequests of any size, restricted or unrestricted. Through a bequest, you will be making a long term investment in Sem's future.

To include Sem in your will and estate plans:

To name Sem as a beneficiary of your Retirement Plan:

Retirement plans come in many forms: 401(k) or 403(b) plan, Keogh or Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs), stock bonus plan, Employee Stock Ownership Plan, a defined benefit or contribution pension plan, profit sharing plan or annuity plan.

Naming or changing your beneficiary(ies) is very easy. You can often do it without lawyers and you are likely to find your fund(s) offer online options to change beneficiary names and the % of the benefit assigned to each.

The Heritage Society

Over 140 alumnae and 30 friends of Sem have joined the Heritage Society by naming Sem as beneficiary of a planned gift during their lifetimes. Through these gifts and bequests, this group has invested in a financially sustainable future for Sem.

Among the types of planned giving from members of the Heritage Society are bequests, charitable gift annuities, pooled income funds, charitable remainder trusts, charitable lead trusts and beneficiary gifts of life insurance, retirement funds, property or tangible assets.
