Founded in 1851, SEM is an extraordinary day and boarding school for girls from across Western New York, the United States, and the world. With its understanding of traditional and creative approaches to education in the 21st century, SEM inspires graduates to emerge from their high school experience as leaders, proud to shape society rather than be controlled or defined by it. They live and lead with energy, confidence, honor, and courage.
This morning Channel 7 Eyewitness News featured a story about a new Post-Graduate (PG) initiative at SEM beginning in the 2022/23 academic year. Our PG Program addresses a trend we noticed before the pandemic. High school graduates began to articulate a desire for a new academic experience before the beginning of their undergraduate careers. Some students expressed interest in more time for independent study; more time to explore new academic interests or particular intellectual passions; more time for immersion in the Arts; more time to cultivate athletic excellence; more time to explore future professional careers and community service opportunities. You can find a complete description of the initiative on our website PG Program.
