SEM's Head of School Search

A Message From the Search Committee Chair

The SEM Board has embarked on a search for the next Head of School who will begin leadership in July 2024.  We have engaged nationally recognized firm Storbeck Search to partner with us in this exciting process. The voices and perspectives of the SEM community will be integral throughout the search. Faculty, staff, parents, students, and alumnae are encouraged to share their input and feedback. We remain grateful for the strong leadership of Helen Marlette, our current Head of School, and appreciate the time we will have to celebrate her tenure with us prior to her retirement. We plan to complete the search process and announce SEM's new Head of School in Fall 2023. Please follow this webpage as a resource and for updates on the search process.

Dear Members of the SEM Community,

On behalf of the Head of School Search Committee, thank you for your engagement during the campus visits of our three exceptional candidates. The SEM community was authentic, welcoming, and thoughtful. You were excellent ambassadors of our wonderful school.

We hope you agree that the candidates represent a range of professional and personal backgrounds, yet each demonstrates an unfaltering commitment to girls’ education and a clear interest and ability in leading SEM into its next chapter.

The Search Committee will now work with our Storbeck search partners to analyze the completed surveys, complete the vetting process, deliberate, and recommend a candidate to the Board of Trustees. We will be working diligently to come to a timely and thoughtful decision. The Board of Trustees intends to be in a position to make an announcement about our next Head of School in October.
