Ms. Dijana Šavija
Dijana Šavija earned an MA in Hispanic Literature from the University at Buffalo. For the past five years, she has been teaching various levels of Spanish, from beginner's grammar to history and literature classes, at the University at Buffalo; In 2016 she won an Excellence in Teaching Award.
She will teach two Advanced Spanish classes and AP Spanish at SEM for the 2017/2018 academic year.
Dijana’s native language is Serbian. Her interest in the Spanish language started when she was very young when watching Latin American TV programs and listening to their music. She also studied Italian for six years. She moved to Buffalo from former Yugoslavia when she was 13-years-old. Living in this city with its diversity of cultures, she fell in love with Hispanic cultures. Ever since, she traveled to various Latin American countries and learned about their dance, food, and ways of living. She also enjoys reading a lot of Latin American literature.
