Mr. Roland Martin
Roland E. Martin teaches courses in music, including Foundation of Music and Music Theory, and coordinates private music lessons for SEM students. He also directs Ensemble and Glee Club for students and directs the Faculty Glee Club, a group that has risen in popularity over the past several years.
In addition to being a member of SEM’s Fine Arts Department, Roland is a member of the music faculty at Canisius College and the State University of New York at Buffalo (UB), where he is professor of organ and harpsichord. He serves as organist/choirmaster and Director of Music at St. Joseph University Church, Buffalo, and Artistic Director of the Freudig Singers of Western New York.
In 1992 he founded Speculum Musicae, an ensemble for early music, which he also directed. He also serves as conductor/music director for Opera Sacra for many of its productions. His organ teachers included legendary SEM music instructor Hans Vigeland, composer of the “Buffalo Seminary Processional,” always played at SEM commencement.
