SEM's theatre credo "We love theatre and we play all the parts!" has always been so. This is the all-woman cast of Much Ado About Nothing in 1898.
SEM Theatre gives students the opportunity to explore the world of theatre in Buffalo and beyond. Access to theatres and companies locally through the connections of our faculty means being able to sit in on dress rehearsals, learn in a variety of environments, and have support for their own productions from trained theatre professionals.
The Theatre Department and Drama Club produce two plays each year, in the fall and in the spring. SEM’s all-girl performances are directed by theatre teacher Susan Drozd, with the entire production run by the students. All are welcome to audition to be cast members or to assist in designing and building sets, costumes, and props, baking concessions, marketing, and selling tickets as Drama Club members or participants of the Theatre Department production classes.
