Art happens both in and out of class at SEM. Students take advantage of the art room during free periods, at lunchtime, and after school. With resources for drawing, painting, printmaking, book arts, photography, 3D printing, animation, digital illustration and beyond there are many mediums to explore.
We have three student exhibitions each year. At the end of each trimester students help select their best work to be included in the exhibition. Artwork is also shared intermittently on SEM’s art instagram accounts: @buffaloseminaryart @bufsemphoto
Each year SEM welcomes a visiting artist as part of the Colby-Oishei Art Program. Colby artists exhibit their work at SEM, share their experience and techniques in art classes and speak to the school as a whole about their work. SEM collects a work of art by each Colby-Oishei Artist. These artworks decorate the hallways and classrooms and ensure that students are exposed to original artwork on a daily basis.
Each trimester, student works are showcase over the Atrium.
