Summer at SEM is a unique experience designed for girls entering fourth through ninth grade. Camp runs every week from June 17th to August 9th and offers a variety of themes and activities that change weekly. Campers are invited to experience all SEM has to offer ranging from a creative science class to a knitting workshop.
We value each camper's interests and hobbies, allowing them to customize their weekly schedules complete with four daily activities. Each camper is encouraged to try new things and learn as much as possible about what camp is all about: fun!

Camp Policies
DEPOSIT
A deposit of $150 per child per week is required at the time of registration to secure your camper’s spot. The deposit is applied to your total camp fee.
CANCELLATION & MODIFICATION POLICY

Weeks of camp can be canceled without penalty and for a full refund (including deposit) through June 14, 2024.

For cancellations made after June 14, 2024, the $150 per child per week deposit will not be refunded.

Weeks of camp can be modified based on availability.
2024 Pricing
- $475 per week for day camp
- $400 weeks with 4 days (SEM to Themselves & Week 2)
- $250 per week for Equestrian Camp (in addition to the fees paid to the Equestrian Center)
- $50 extra for early drop off or late pick up.
- Some of our special programs have additional fees

Campers to be dropped off Thursday morning with their sleepover essentials and are to be picked up at the end of camp on Friday.

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
Arts and Crafts: What are some things you’ve always wanted to make? Tie-dye shirts? DIY tote bags? Canvas paintings? In arts and crafts, campers are encouraged to connect to their creative side and let their inner artist roam free! From group art activities to solo projects, campers will have every opportunity to create their own masterpieces!
Creative Chemistry: Creative Chemistry is a fun and interactive summer camp class that teaches kids the basics of chemistry through engaging and easy experiments. Led by enthusiastic SEM counselors, this class provides hands-on experience in creating fun projects like lip balm, slime, and more, while also introducing fundamental concepts in chemistry, fostering a love for science and discovery.
Digital Art and Animation: Enter the world of Digital Art and Animation! Dive into a realm where creativity knows no bounds as campers explore the exciting realm of digital artistry. Campers will learn the fundamentals of digital art and animation, unleashing their imagination through innovative techniques and software. From creating captivating illustrations to bringing characters to life with animation, this workshop offers a dynamic blend of skill-building and creativity. Join us for a summer of pixelated adventures and watch your imagination come to life on the digital canvas!
Fiber Arts Fusion: Fiber Arts Fusion is a fun and creative summer camp class that explores the art of working with fibers to create unique and beautiful pieces of art. From knitting and crocheting to weaving and embroidery, students will learn a variety of techniques and explore different materials to create their own one-of-a-kind fiber art projects, encouraging creativity and self-expression.
From Trash to Treasure: Embark on a creative journey where campers transform everyday items into stunning works of art. Campers will discover the beauty in recycling as they repurpose materials into masterpieces. From old magazines to discarded cardboard, every piece has the potential to shine in this eco-friendly exploration. Join us for a summer of creativity, sustainability, and turning trash into artistic treasures!
Girl Unlimited: Unleash the power of girlhood with Girl Unlimited! This empowering summer class is a celebration of girl power and women's empowerment. Led by passionate counselors, campers embark on a journey of self-discovery through engaging crafts, inspiring videos, and a supportive community. From exploring role models to discovering their unique strengths, campers will be encouraged to embrace their individuality and harness the incredible power within. Join us for a week of creativity, camaraderie, and endless possibilities as we empower the leaders of tomorrow!
Jazzed Up Jewelry: Add a little shimmer to your life with bejeweled creations! In Jazzed Up Jewelry campers have the opportunity to create their own necklaces, bracelets, and earrings with beads and jewels!
Knitting: Knitting is a fun and rewarding summer camp class that teaches kids the fundamental techniques of knitting. Through hands-on instruction and creative exploration, students will learn how to cast on and off, knit and purl stitches, and follow a pattern, creating their own unique projects and developing valuable skills in a fun and engaging way.
Lights, Camera, Action!: Lights, Camera, Action is an exciting summer camp class for kids interested in the art of filmmaking. This class teaches the fundamentals of directing, producing, and filming a movie, from scriptwriting and storyboarding to editing and post-production, providing an immersive and hands-on experience in the world of cinema.
Magic Pen Society: Join the adventure with the Magic Pen Society! Get ready for a wild ride through the world of creative writing in this exciting summer class. Led by our SAS counselors, campers will dive into imaginative prompts to craft their own epic tales. From exploring exciting stories and poems to creating our own, every camper will be a master storyteller by the end of the week. Get ready to unleash your creativity and join the fun with the Magic Pen Society!
Mythical Beasts: If you have a flare for fantasy and an active imagination, you will love Mythical Beasts! In this class, campers will be able to create their own incredible creatures and dreadful dragons using clay, papier mache, and other materials! Use your imagination to stir up a fantastical world of your own creation!
Nailed It: Nailed It is a sweet summer camp class that teaches kids the art of making delicious desserts. Dabbling in different types of desserts, this class encourages creativity and imagination in the kitchen while developing fundamental baking skills.
Photoshop Workshop: Unlock your digital creativity with our Photoshop Workshop! Dive into the world of digital art as campers learn to manipulate images, create stunning graphics, and unleash their imagination using Adobe Photoshop. Campers will master essential tools and techniques to bring their ideas to life on the digital canvas. Whether designing posters, editing photos, or crafting digital illustrations, this workshop offers endless possibilities for artistic expression. Join us for a summer of pixel-perfect fun and unleash your inner digital artist with Photoshop!
Ready, Set, DRAW!: Calling all doodlers, drawers, and sketchers; Ready, Set, Draw is the class for you! Work with charcoal, ink, graphite, and more to draw up the masterpiece of your dreams! All experience levels are welcome, and we encourage all campers to join in on the fun!
Scrapbooking/Collage: Save your photos, letters, artwork and other memories in one place where you can revisit each moment again and again. Preserve camp memories and your favorite pictures in a beautiful scrapbook of your own creation.
SEMbroidery: Welcome to SEMbroidey! In this class, campers learn the art of embroidery through hands-on practice and expert guidance. They'll master basic stitches and create beautiful projects to take home, all while having a blast with new friends. Join us for a summer filled with creativity and fun!
SEM Outdoors: SEM Outdoors is an exciting summer camp class that gets kids outside and exploring nature. This class offers a variety of outdoor activities, from nature scavenger hunts and outdoor crafts, providing an opportunity for kids to enjoy the great outdoors and develop a love for nature.
SEM Sports: SEM Sports is a high-energy summer camp class that encourages kids to get active and develop their athletic abilities. With a focus on teamwork and sportsmanship, this class provides a fun and supportive environment where kids can learn and play a variety of sports.
So You Think You Can Dance?: Dance into summer fun with 'So You Think You Can Dance'! Designed for young dance enthusiasts eager to elevate their skills, this dynamic class led by SAS counselors promises a week filled with rhythm, flair, and plenty of grooves. From hip-hop to ballet, campers will explore various dance styles in a lively and supportive atmosphere. With each step, they'll gain confidence and coordination, culminating in an electrifying showcase for the entire camp. Join us for a week of laughter, learning, and unforgettable dance memories!
Songcrafters Studio: Strike a chord with our Songcrafters Studio! Dive into the world of music creation as campers unleash their inner songwriter. Led by experienced SAS counselors, this class offers a harmonious blend of guidance and creativity. From crafting lyrics to composing melodies, campers will explore the art of songwriting in a fun and supportive environment. Join us for a summer filled with rhythm, rhyme, and endless possibilities!
Theatre Magic: Step into the spotlight with Theatre Magic! Dive into a world of acting, singing, and behind-the-scenes excitement as campers embark on a week-long journey of theatrical exploration. From rehearsing lines to perfecting harmonies, every camper plays a vital role in bringing captivating plays and musicals to life. With roles for aspiring actors, singers, and backstage crew, this immersive all morning class promises a showcase-worthy production at week's end. Join us for a week of creativity, camaraderie, and the magic of the stage!
The Voice: Sing your heart out with a class all about karaoke! Campers can spend their time singing their favorite songs with their counselors and friends and show their singing expertise!
Tiny Town Creations: Tiny Town Creations is a creative summer camp class that teaches kids the art of making small clay figurines and landscapes. Through hands-on instruction and creative exploration, students will learn sculpting techniques and create their own miniature worlds, fostering creativity and imagination in a fun and engaging way.
Special Programs
Summer at SEM has wonderful opportunities for all campers to expand their horizons and participate in unique "Special Programs" that take their SAS experience to the next level. Summer at SEM partners with the Buffalo Scholastic Rowing Association, Chef Krista Van Wagner, The Buffalo Yacht Club, The Buffalo Equestrian Center, SEM Varsity Squash Coach Mike Ferrick and Fashion Lab NY to allow our campers to learn new skills and master the craft of design, sport and cuisine. These programs have limited availability and are on a first come first serve basis. Some do require an additional fee. See below for more information. Cooking with Chef Krista
Buffalo Seminary celebrated Chef Krista Van Wagner is back for her 4th year, and will present a series of culinary classes with a seasonal line-up that is sure to please. Chef Krista will introduce basic cooking techniques, kitchen safety, knife skills, and her favorite recipes from her travels around the world. Budding young chefs will enjoy a fun-filled cooking class with Chef Van Wagner. Knife skills, food safety, Mise En Place, and basic culinary techniques will be explored in each session.
(Crew) Learn to Row
Rowing is the ultimate team sport! Summer at SEM partners with the BSRA to bring a unique camp experience to our summer program. This program teaches campers about communication, leadership and character. Rowers will learn about time management and dedication so they can have respect for themselves, teammates and coaches through programs such as Learn to Row 101 & 102 and Sculling classes. Rowing is a sport that you can do for the rest of your life, it will challenge you physically and mentally. It's excellent aerobic and anaerobic exercise!
Equestrian
Buffalo Seminary has partnered up with The Buffalo Equestrian Center again to offer an unforgettable summer camp opportunity for their campers. At the BEC, campers experience a fun introduction to riding for beginner and intermediate riders between the ages of 9 and 12 years old. This camp program features group riding sessions and instruction on grooming & bathing, braiding, bandaging, tack & equipment, and horse crafts! Campers will also participate in all aspects of stable activity, including feeding and general horse care. Camp runs Tuesday - Friday from 8:30am - 12:00pm. Fashion Lab
Become a Designer at one of our Fashion and Sewing Mini Camps this Summer at SEM! Spend the Summer with us being creative and having fun with new friends, while you learn amazing new life skills. Our Fashion Design and Sewing Camps allow campers to sew different clothing or craft projects, and work to improve their confidence and skills through following basic patterns, pinning, cutting fabric, sewing on the line, and working with various stitches and fabrics. All supplies, trims, and sewing machines are provided by Fashion Lab NY. Fashion Lab NY returns with New PROJECTS! Make your ideas come to life - learn machine sewing, upcycle clothing, and fun dyeing techniques! Afternoons at SEM weeks of 7/8-8/9. Space is filling, and limited spots are available!
Sail Away with SEM
Summer at SEM is going back on the water with the Buffalo Yacht Club’s sailing program. In our SAS sailing program, campers ages 9-14 are invited to Sail Away With SEM. Our campers sail primarily FJ and J/22 sailboats and an assortment of larger keelboats. This program is designed for girls who love to be on the water and want to sail a variety of different sailboats. This experience allows campers to get a feel for the sport and have fun doing it. Campers learn the parts of the boat, points of sail, knots, and many other important aspects of sailing. Experience is not required to participate in the program, and all skill levels are encouraged to participate!
